Bio Summary
John Isaza, Esq. is a California-based attorney and
current principal of Isaza Consulting, an international records and
information management firm. He recently completed a stint as General
Counsel for a publicly traded medical device manufacturer. Prior to that,
Mr. Isaza was a Senior Consultant with the Records Improvement Institute.
Before becoming a consultant in 2001, Mr. Isaza had over a decade of
experience as a trial lawyer specializing in business, environmental
contamination, products liability and construction defects. During that time
he also served as Arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Court System. Mr.
Isaza attended Boston College Law School, where he served as Editor of the
Boston College International Law Review and also served as a Judicial Extern
for the United States District Court of Massachusetts. He is fluent in
Spanish, French and proficient in German. At present, he is an active
speaker in the ARMA circuit, including ARMA New Orleans & Boston, as well as
local chapters from the East Coast to the West Coast. Mr. Isaza also has
served on the Boston and Long Beach Program Committees for ARMA’s annual
international conference, and he chaired the Chicago Program Committee for
ARMA’s 2005 international conference.

Discovery, Spoliation & Legal Holds: Know When to Hold ‘Em, When to Destroy

Mr. Isaza will present on his featured article in ARMA’s Information
Management Journal: Know When to Hold ‘Em, When to Destroy ‘Em. Mr. Isaza
will comment on cutting-edge issues of discovery and spoliation,
specifically regarding pending or potential investigations or litigation,
which since Sarbanes-Oxley and ENRON have been at the top of most companies'
priority lists. Mr. Isaza will draw on his experience as a former trial
attorney and arbitrator to present an overview of legal standards he has
identified to trigger a "legal hold" of pending or potential litigation and
investigations. The presentation will further draw on the speaker’s
experience as a RIM consultant to lead a discussion of the challenges
companies face in applying legal holds to their electronic communication
systems. |
